The SI-fusion is a procedure to treat sacroiliac (SI) joint pathology using a minimally invasive technique. Small titanium bolts are implanted across the sacroiliac joint to stabilize the joint. A small incision is made near the hip for access to the SI joint. Under fluoroscopic guidance, wires are passed across the joint for delivery of the titanium bolts. The bolts are then passed over the wires across the SI joint. The procedure typically takes 45-60 minutes. Patients are encouraged to ambulate on the evening of surgery with the assistance of crutches or a walker.
