Innovative Technologies - Minimally Invasive Surgical Techniques, Los Angeles CA

Minimally Invasive Scoliosis Surgery

Scoliosis (curvature of the spine) can be quite painful and debilitating. There are several known types of scoliosis. However, in general, the spine will begin to curve leading to imbalance and tilt in the discs. This can cause the inability to stand up straight or even worse cause compression of the spinal nerves. This nerve compression can be so painful that it can prevent one from walking long distances.

Historically, surgery to correct these deformities have been extreme and been known to have high volumes of blood loss, long stays in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and taken a significant toll on the patient. Therefore a less invasive solution was needed.

Dr. Anand has pioneered the combination of three minimally invasive fusion techniques to adequately correct curvature deformities and fuse the spine. This is done most often in a two stage surgical procedure.

NeoDisc™ Cervical Disc Replacement

Advancing motion preservation through soft fixation. The combined elastic material and embroidery technology of NeoDisc™ provides a variety of surgical options, including interbody and ligamentous, in motion preservation applications.

AxiaLIF®

Axial lumbar Interbody Fusion is a procedure that spares all of the muscles, nerves, and soft tissue while stabilizing the spine, is the least invasive surgical option for lumbar fusion surgery. By sparing this vital tissue, patients have shorter recovery times.

XLIF® Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion

eXtreme Lateral Interbody Fusion does not require disruption of the sensitive back muscles, bones, ligaments, or nerves and allows for complete disc removal and implant insertion as compared with traditional posterior procedures. It also does not require the delicate abdominal exposure or present the same risk of vascular injury as traditional anterior approaches. As a result, operating time is often reduced, patient blood loss is minimized, and recovery times are significantly reduced.

X-STOP® IPD®

X STOP The X-STOP® IPD® Implant is a titanium metal implant designed to fit between the spinous processes of the vertebrae in your lower back. It is designed to remain safely and permanently in place without attaching to the bone or ligaments in your back.

Multilevel Minimally Invasive Screws

Using the CD Horizon Longitude system pedicle screws are placed over a guide wire in a minimally invasive fashion leaving the fascia and muscle intact. The rod is then threaded through the screw extenders. A set screw is used to secure the rod at each screw and the extenders are removed. This approach spares the muscles which are disrupted in open surgery and allows for long, multilevel fusion constructs.

Stabilimax NZ Dynamic Spine Stabilization System

Stabilimax NZ is designed to offer a unique treatment for spinal stenosis called "dynamic stabilization." This means that while Stabilimax NZ works to stabilize the affected area of the spine, it does so in a manner which preserves both bending and twisting motions.
